Manti, Utah

The city of Manti was the first community to be built outside the Wasatch Front and settled in 1849 and incorporated in 1851. The population is currently 3,276 after the 2010 census. It served as the main hub for the building up of many other cities in Central Utah. The Manti temple was the fifth temple built in Utah by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The temple dominates the skyline in the area. The city used to host a two-week-long Mormon Pageant. The Mormon Miracle Pageant was a Pageant held in Manti, Utah put on by the Latter Day Saints. An amateur cast of over five hundred members of the church put on an annual outdoor theatrical performance until it was discontinued in 2019.

Manti was one of the primary networks settled in what was to become Utah. Boss Walkara (or Walker), an Ute Tribe pioneer, welcomed Brigham Young to send pioneers to the territory to show his kin the systems of fruitful cultivating. In 1849, Brigham Young dispatched an organization of around 225 pioneers, consisting of a few families, to the Sanpitch (presently Sanpete) Valley. Under the course of Isaac Morley and George Washington Bradley, the pioneers showed up at the present area in November.
